articles of faith

The Bible – We believe that the Bible is the Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit.

God – We believe in the existence of a Supreme Being, personal and infinite, who inhabits eternity in inaccessible light and who is revealed to us as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, and although Triune in persons, God is one in essence, and He alone is the one true and living God, the Author and Sustainer of all creation.

Jesus Christ – We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, born of the virgin Mary, and that He lived a life without sin, died vicariously for the sins of man, and rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures and that He is the only mediator between God and man. We believe that He will come again for His Church and to establish His kingdom.

The Holy Spirit – We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and that He is a person and not an impersonal force. We believe that He is the true God with God the Father and God the Son and that He is the only vicar of Christ in the world and the guide of the Church.

Man – We believe that man and woman were created by God in His image and likeness, that they were created perfect, pure, and innocent until they disobeyed God, and by that disobedience they were stripped of their pure and innocent nature and acquired a sinful natural which they have passed on to all humans in that all have sinned and deserve the just punishment of God.

Salvation – We believe that salvation is a gift of God, given by His grace and acquired by means of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, not by merit or human works.

Resurrection – We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead: the just to eternal life and the unjust to eternal condemnation.

The Church – We believe that the church is a living organism, the spiritual body of the Lord Jesus Christ who is its head. We believe that the church is also the congregation of born again people, called by Christ to come out of the world, to separate from worldly things to be a unique people belonging to Him. The church's earthly leaders are pastors (also called bishops or elders) and deacons.

Ordinances– We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances: baptism and the breaking of bread. We believe that baptism is by immersion, that it is the first step of obedience by which the converted identify with the death and resurrection of Christ, thereby symbolizing the spiritual transformation undertaken in them. Baptism does not save, nor does it impart any special grace, but is only a symbol. We believe that the breaking of bread is a commemoration of the death of the Lord until he comes and that the elements of bread and the fruit of the vine are only symbols of His broken body and shed blood, and that our participation in them is a testimony of the believer's communion with Christ.
